Term 3 Week Eight

Hi-de-ho!  How is everyone?

The Kokako pupils have had a fantastic week with Miss Van den Beld running the classroom programme, and Mrs C has been catching up with plans for the production and assessments and taking one group for reading.

There have been a few small changes just to keep us on our toes such as new reward systems, different attention signals and, a major change, of having coooperative tables as workspaces (with the option of working on the floor, sitting at a different table each day, or even standing up to work at the taller table). This is something Miss V and Mrs C wanted to trial after seeing it in action at Wanaka Primary School.

We are enjoying the variety and the flexibility to choose where we work, and mostly are using the workspaces to get our work done quickly and quietly.

Allynah was our VIP of the week.
For writing we wrote poems or thankyou letters in regards to our Waituna Lagoon visit and have now begun working on advertisements for our Senior Production.

In reading each group is working on learning about one of the ancient cultures that are visited as part of the Senior Production - the Incas, the American Indians, the Chinese and the Egyptians.  The Epsilon reading group have been reading about whitebaiting.

For maths Miss V's numeracy group is practising their skills with measurement of length and area, with a lot of practical tasks to complete.

Miss V has been introducing us to the various elements of dance and drama, a good build-up to our show, and has been taking the Year 5 & 6 group for singing practice and rehearsals of scene one for the show.  It is all getting very exciting as we get into preparing our costumes and props!

A new Take Two News item was released this week on our You Tube channel...based on the school learning value of PARTICIPATION...well done to Freya, Kobie and Renee for their work on this!
