HAPPY EASTER!

A blog post from Week 8! (found it on our old blog!)
We have been doing freeze frame images with Miss Pottinger - we have a disaster that we act out and Miss P pauses us with the remote and mutes us, the others have to guess what we are acting.

We said goodbye to Darcy and Chontae Munro.

Our soccer skills have been going well. With Matt we have started doing some game practices.

We have been writing explanations about disasters.

Week 11: What a great term we had! It is a busy classroom with 28 pupils and Mrs Coyle is very proud of the way every pupil carried out their activities during the last five weeks, especially while Miss Pottinger was in charge of the classroom! We have learnt a lot about our SMARTs (learning styles) and many pupils are choosing to use their learning turn-ons to help with completing their tasks.

There was certainly a lot happening, especially once the Year Sixes returned from their awesome camp in Dunedin - thank you to Mr Hart, Mr Smith, Mrs Heads, Mr Durry, and Mr Musalov for providing our transport and wonderful parent support during our four day trip to Dunedin.

The Year Sixes enjoyed a wide range of activities - visiting the Chinese Gardens, swimming at Moana pool, yachting at Port Chalmers, ice-skating, visiting the albatross, seals and yellow-eyed penguins on the Otago Peninsula, staying overnight at the Otago Museum, and creating awesome landscape paintings at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery.

We had a lot of fun and laughter on our trip and the Year Sixes behaved wonderfully, carrying out the values of Edendale School at all times.

After camp Miss Pottinger was in charge and for inquiry she had each g3 group writing and performing a mini-drama of a TV news report about a disaster; it was really exciting to see every group carry out their drama performances so fantastically after all the practices - the videos will be uploaded to our YouTube channel so look out for those via our wikispace http://room6eps.wikispaces.com/ or go directly from here http://www.youtube.com/user/Rm6Edendale

The art work that was done with Miss P also looks awesome and our pastel portraits will be on the back wall of the classroom.  Great to see the improvements people made with their statistics skills in maths, and what a super finish we had to the term of soccer skills sessions with both teams winning all four of their games at the Four-Sports Soccer Tournament in Gore.

Wacky Wednesday was a great day, raising a lot of money for the school's Tanzanian sponsor child, and the Royal Rumpus last Thursday was a lot of fun - very nice for Miss Kate Middleton and Prince William to join us for the royal parade!

Hopefully everyone is having a fun and safe Easter holiday break and will return on the 2nd May, ready for another busy term to improve our skills and knowledge across all areas of our personal learning needs!
